¿Cómo salir del parón de actividad provocado por la epidemia del coronavirus? ¿Seguir con el business as usual que ya daba muestras de agotamiento o apostar por un impulso a la economía circular y baja en carbono?
Hace cuatro días, un total de 13 países europeos, entre ellos España, reclamaban a la Comisión Europea que movilice los 100.000 millones de euros previstos para invertir en el plan del Green New Deal europeo hasta 2027 para iniciar ya una transición hacia la economía sostenible.
Este estímulo serviría de impulso inmediato para despertar la actividad del continente colapsada por la crisis del Covid-19.
Teniendo en cuenta las dificultades que está teniendo la UE para activar una respuesta acorde al reto que afrontan los estados miembro, y considerando que la última reunión de ministros de Economía de la UE se ha cerrado con un acuerdo cicatero por la cerrazón de Alemania y Holanda a distribuir el combustible financiero que impulse una remontada en UVE de la economía europea tras el colapso causado por el virus, es cada vez más perentorio encontrar soluciones económicas que permitan a los países remontar una situación inédita, como muestra por ejemplo el termómetro del pulso económico que es la demanda eléctrica nacional.
El resurgir de la actividad puede ser una UVE de color verde y, además, contribuir a la transición hacia un sistema basado en la eficiencia, la innovación y la tecnología, mucho mejor.
Impulsa el Parlamento Europeo
A esta demanda se acaban de sumar cerca de 200 actores, que incluyen a las empresas más potentes del continente y representantes de la sociedad civil, en una acción promovida desde el Parlamento Europeo.
En total, más de 180 líderes empresariales, sindicales, políticos, ONGs y académicos se han sumado a la Alianza europea para una recuperación verde. Expresan su deseo de “apoyar e implementar soluciones para preparar nuestras economías para el mundo del mañana».ç
En total, se han sumado a la iniciativa ministros de 11 países, 79 eurodiputados, 37 líderes empresariales de dimensión mundial, 28 asociaciones empresariales, la Confederación Europea de Sindicatos, siete ONGs y los miembros de seis laboratorios de ideas, según informó este martes el presidente de la Comisión de Medio Ambiente del Parlamento Europeo e incitador del proyecto, Pascal Canfin, en un comunicado.
La iniciativa, iniciada en el seno de la institución europea recipientaria de la soberanía popular, ha sido oficialmente avalada por el Parlamento Europeo.
Los firmantes de esta alianza se comprometen a trabajar por la «movilización de paquetes de inversión verde» tras la crisis del Covid-19, definida en el comunicado como «el mayor desafío que Europa ha enfrentado en tiempos de paz, con consecuencias devastadoras y un shock para la economía más difícil que la crisis de 2008″.
«La alianza trabajará para construir unos planes de recuperación y transformación que consagren la lucha contra el cambio climático y la biodiversidad como un pilar clave de la estrategia económica», subrayaron los firmantes.
Para esta nueva alianza, la recuperación económica «solo vendrá con inversiones masivas para proteger y crear empleos, que apoyen a todas las empresas, regiones y sectores que han sufrido la parada repentina de la economía».
En esta línea, la alianza «se compromete a participar en la lucha y la victoria de estas dos batallas simultáneamente».
Entre los firmantes se encuentran los eurodiputados españoles Izaskun Bilbao (PNV), Jonás Fernández (PSOE) y Soraya Rodríguez (Cs); la presidenta del grupo socialista en el Parlamento Europeo, Iratxe García, y la ministra española para la Transición Ecológica y el Reo Demográfico, Teresa Ribera, y cerca de 40 grandes empresas como Cola-Cola, Nestlé, Microsoft, Ikea, Danone, Iberdrola o Suez.
